Founded in 1988, the ZMS is a professional medal society that encourages local and overseas membership. The society holds regular monthly meetings in Zimbabwe, which could include presentations by members or talks by guest speakers, and also administers an annual Medal Convention in Harare.

The Society produces the Journal of the Zimbabwe Medal Society: a regular publication containing original research, illustrations and histories relating to the medals of the region, which is sent free of charge to all members on average three times a year. Members are encouraged to submit articles and research for publication.

The ZMS is a non-profit organisation. Funds generated from membership fees pay for the publication of the Journal, and any surplus is invested in medal magazines and reference books to expand the Society's library. We welcome enquiries about membership from local and overseas members.
